- Get ready for VEX summer camp! These summer camps are intended to be a help for your child as they begin to start their robotics journey this coming fall. All camps will be held at the BACC ("innovation hub") on the high school campus and will be facilitated by a combination of certified teachers as well as experienced VEX IQ alumni. All camps include lunch, a snack, and a t-shirt.
- Here are the options that are available:
1. VEX GO Camp (incoming 3rd and 4th graders) - Intended to be a starting point and introduction into all things robotics for younger students. No experience necessary. Camp will be 9 am to 11 am. Offered either July 20-23rd or July 27-30th.
2. Intro to VEX IQ Camp (incoming 5th thru 8th graders) - Intended to be a starting point for students who have less than two years of experience in robotics. The topics covered will be the fundamentals to building, gear ratio, using coding blocks, keeping an effective notebook, and more. Camp will be 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. Offered only July 20-23rd.
3. VEX IQ Pro Camp (incoming 6th thru 8th graders) - This class is intended for children who are beyond the basics of VEX IQ and are ready to expand their knowledge. See below to see what is right for your kid. Camp will be 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. Offered only July 27-30th.
Your child is ready for the VEX IQ Pro camp if they can explain the following concepts in great detail: compound gear ratio, how pneumatics work, what an "H-Drive" is used for, how to program an autonomous code that gets at least 10 points at a competition, etc. The topics covered will be advanced sensors and coding techniques, building robust robots, CAD introduction, advanced game strategy, and more.
